Launching successful start-ups is a passion of Kevin Shin. He has executed multiple mergers and acquisitions around the world in various sectors such as IT, real estate, green tech, manufacturing, agriculture, construction, and food and beverage.

Safe to say Kevin is a start-up natural.

In addition, he has over 17 years of experience in the finance industry serving as a financial consultant at AXA winning multiple sales awards. He also led ChungKing Recording Studios where Russell Simmons and John King worked to bring Rap music into households. Here he restructured the corporation and brought this historic studio - with a roster that included LL Cool J, Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey - back to profitability in three short months.

In 2004, Kevin founded an innovative corporation to house a venture capital company and a commodities trading desk. The venture capital company started at $20M in AUM in year one to $3.8bn in AUM with IRR consistently in the 20’s before his departure in 2017.

Kevin also joined NewOak Capital as a Senior Advisor in 2009 on a limited basis and as a Limited Partner. He has worked with clients like: Tongyang for restructuring their corporation during a financial crisis, Starwood Capital as a capital raiser and senior analyst for proposed deals, and taught Asia structure to multi-billion dollar hedge funds while working in Asia during his tenure at NewOak.

Tiki Barber

Tiki brings a deep reserve of positive energy, drive and consumer understanding to the team. He’s a successful entrepreneur co-founding Julius, Inc., and Thuzio, Inc. Julius is a software solution for influencer search and procurement. Thuzio provides members and their guests with memorable live and unfiltered conversations with legends of sports and entertainment.

Tiki also serves as co-host of CBS Sports Radio’s national afternoon show, Tiki & Tierney, which is also simulcast on CBS Sports Network.

Previously, Tiki spent 10 years as an NFL running back with the New York Giants.

He joined Marshall Faulk and Marcus Allen as the only players in NFL history with at least 10,000 yards rushing and 5,000 yards receiving in a career. He was inducted into the New York Giants Ring of Honor and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame.

Tiki is also a board member of the Fresh Air Fund and Kulture City, an autism acceptance and inclusion organization based in Birmingham, AL. He's a 1997 graduate of the University of Virginia’s McIntire School of Commerce (Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society), with a concentration in Management Information Systems.

Dean Mazboudi

Dean is a senior technology executive with over 25 years of experience, primarily in the delivery of innovative IT solutions for global financial services companies. He is highly regarded as a strategic thinker, industry innovator and an agent for change. Over the course of his career, Dean has held varying senior roles and responsibilities spanning the full technology development life-cycle, while contributing to some of the largest initiatives in the financial industry.

Dean started his career as a software engineer at Merrill Lynch supporting the Global Private Client business. Most recently Dean was co-founder of Deutsche Bank Labs where he led the technology strategy and innovation agenda, while establishing DB Labs globally across four geographic locations and managing a portfolio of over 500 startups.

Earlier, Dean was the CTO and Chief Architect for UBS Financial Services, where he supported the Wealth Management division and Investment Bank. He also served at CTO and Chief Architect for ICAP Electronic Broking - a preeminent inter-dealer broker in the FX and Fixed Income brokerage services - and was Director of the Financial Services practice at BearingPoint.

Dean is a board advisor, frequent guest speaker and panelist at several prominent industry events on a range of topics including emerging technology trends, Fintech and EnterpriseTech.

James Frischling

James Frischling


James is an entrepreneur and experienced finance professional with a 28-year history of working in the financial services and capital markets industry.

Prior to being a founding member of Grove Group, in 2008 James co-founded NewOak Capital, a financial advisory, capital markets and asset management firm. Prior to NewOak Capital, James led several businesses at Société General and Fortis Securities. In 2004, James made his first investment in the hospitality industry and in 2006, he co-founded and serves as a partner and finance director at Branded Restaurants LLC which owns and operates a number of restaurants in New York City. In 2017 James co-founded and is a principal at Branded Strategic Hospitality LLC which is focused on connecting hospitality, technology and capital.

James is also a principal and director at Oak Brand Advisors LLC, a software and services company focused on middle-office administrative services for the private credit markets; and MuniRisk LLC, a technology company focused on fundamental credit analysis in the municipal bond market. James is an independent director at Tetragon Credit Income Fund II and III, a multi-billion-dollar asset management firm in the structured credit markets. Lastly, James in on the Board of Trustees at The Dalton School.

James holds his Series 79, 7, 24 and 63 licenses with FINRA, a B.A. from Wesleyan University and an MBA from Columbia Business School.




With a masterful grasp of financing and ready reserve of entrepreneurial energy, Chris Chung has over 25 years of experience leading teams, employees and companies in the finance and IT sectors.

First, a little about his financing talent: Chris started his career working in investment firms where he focused on special situation fixed-income sales and trading. During his 12 years in finance, he averaged over $5B in AUM in-house with an additional $5B held outside. Chris was the top 25 producers in each of his firms from Janney Montgomery Scott, UBS Investment Bank and Bank of America.

Chris founded and sold other companies in the IT field. He was President and CEO of Altibase, a database management corporation looking to grow in the space. He developed relationships with firms in the U.S., China and EMEA to expand business quickly and within two years, positioned the corporation among the top 25 database vendors in the world as shown in Gartner’s “Magic Quadrant for Operational DBMSs - 2013, 2014 and 2015. Most recently he created a ground-up, Cyber BU for a Goldman Sachs funded venture.

Now for the creative part: Chris’ entrepreneurial endeavors began as a hobby ignited by his interest in IT. He self-coded a website in 1995 - a time when this was done from scratch - that specialized in golf equipment testing and reviewing. The site included blogs and near real-time streaming of golf competition scores with video. He sold this company prior to the dotcom bubble to one of the leading Golf publications.

Bob DeSena

Bob DeSena


Bob DeSena has been a marketing innovator and a leading strategist for over twenty five years, specializing in high growth markets. He has held senior management, marketing and media positions with both advertising agencies and client organizations.

Most recently he was CEO of the Engagement Marketing Group which he founded to focus on new ways to create and measure customer value and engagement across all communications platforms. Prior to that Bob served as CMO of TouchVision, the first 24/7 news and information service to air simultaneously across all platforms, where he developed, tested and launched a successful multimedia acquisition campaign integrating social, mobile and online channels. Earlier Bob was Director of Relationship Marketing at Masterfoods USA and a member of the CRM Global Steering Committee. Included in his responsibilities were both pet and snack food product development, testing and launch.

He previously served as Vice President, Digital Media for Time Inc. where he created a specialized marketing services unit designed to assist Time Warner’s largest worldwide clients including General Motors and Procter & Gamble.

Prior to Time Warner, Bob held senior executive positions on the agency side of the business including as Director of the industry's first combined Media and Marketing Services Group with Wunderman, and later as EVP and General Manager of Draft (now FCB).

Bob has served as Adjunct Professor in the NYU Graduate Program of Integrated Marketing, and on the advisory boards of several digital services companies. He is a Founding Member of the MI4 Committee and is a member of the DMA Academy and Direct Leadership Committee.




Jack has led creative teams at Time Warner and Saatchi & Saatchi to position and market some of the world’s most famous brands. Sports Illustrated. Quickbooks. Road Runner High Speed Online. Bristol-Myers Squibb. Nestle Waters. And dozens more.

At Time Warner he managed a 65-person division with a $150M marketing budget. Responsibilities included the creative, media, consumer research and production departments. He also launched and managed a joint venture with Time Life Video and Warner Home Video. Jack was the writer and director on scores of TV commercials for global brands in the pharmaceutical, banking and investment, publishing, eCommerce, manufacturing, and software industries.

Jack’s speciality is creating a brand strategy and messaging platform that deploys the accountability of direct marketing with the awareness tactics of branding.
